Private equity firms have systematically destroyed America, from the healthcare sector to marketing agencies, and every industry in between. A recent acquisition of On The Map Marketing by Cloud Equity Group, the latter of which is the subject of multiple lawsuits with one high-profile lawsuit focused on owner Sean Frank, has left full-time staff and contractors without pay.
Prior to this acquisition, On The Map Marketing had a consistent record of on-time pay and client commitments that spanned nearly a decade. In March 2025, issues began with the payroll. Both employees and contractors stopped receiving paystubs, and the payments became irregular.
Initially, the pay would be late by a few days after payday. However, the wait soon became more prolonged, with weeks and even months passing without receipt of pay, putting workers in financial strain.
The breakdown in the payroll resulted in workers complaining, even attempting to strike and withhold work until payment was received. In turn, this lead to a chain reaction, ultimately leading to clients being underserved. Staff began quitting in record numbers, and the once vibrant On The Map team lost its morale.
Currently, Cloud Equity Group has made promises to provide back pay and keep timely pay going forward. It has only held up part of those promises, issuing back pay and timely current payments to some while others and now paychecks behind.
All employees at On The Map Marketing have documentation of this breach and the unethical treatment they have endured. The ones who remain are deeply disheartened as they watch a company they helped build, once a thriving, multi-million dollar company, tumble further into a collapsed state.
Chronic mismanagement and financial irresponsibility have left the remaining employees saddled with unimaginable burden. Each one wonders if they will be getting their pay or if they are working for free.
The broader trend here reveals how private equity ownership destabilizes companies, undermines worker rights, and erode service fulfillment. Employees feel voiceless and betrayed and are speaking out here to bring awareness to get help. Each person deserves the money they have earned by fulfilling the duties of their job. Threats of non-payment by Cloud Equity Group to those who are striking until they are fully paid up add even more to the dour state of affairs here.
